The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is holding a Career Fair from 15th to 17th January 2010, 11am to 9.30pm, at the Marina Square Central Atrium with over 2,000 job vacancies on offer. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli will launch the fair at 12.30pm on Saturday.
Interested individuals will be able to speak to career counselors at the fair, and learn about the various training and development opportunities offered.
MHA is looking to fill the following positions for the Home Team:

- Prisons Officer, Singapore Prison Service
- Narcotics Officer, Central Narcotics Bureau

it will better for you to complete your higher Nitec first before application. We have career fairs every now and then and you can apply for an SCDF career via our recruitment website anytime of the year.

But please note that this must be done before you are vocationed. hi, im another 28 yr old guy.. i’ll b gettin my diploma next yr n would like to make paramedic specialist my career. Late, i know, but I hope to try.
I was an NSF with SCDF during my NS but didn’t join the FRS.. although I was recommended by my officer during my last year, I was too lazy then : ( Like e guy b4 me, I’d like to ask if there’s an age limit for the paramedic appointment.
Also, my current background is in design and engineering. Would taking night classes in medical related certification courses significantly up my chances of getting in. One more year to go b4 I graduate and I’m prepared to do everytin I can in this one year to maximize my chances of being a paramedic.
But of course, if there’s an age limit, its all for naught..

age is not an issue if you are able to meet all our prerequisites.
To be a Paramedic in the Civil Defence, you must meet the following requirements:
(1) Singaporean or Permanent Resident of Singapore.
(2) 5 GCE ‘O’ level credits, GCE ‘A’ level, ITC/CBS or Polytechnic Diploma holder.
(3) Does not suffer from colour blindness and not more than 500 degrees of myopia per eye.
(4) Physically fit. Male applicants must be PES A or B.
(5) Minimum height is 1.6 m for male and female applicants.
(6) Minimum weight is 50 kg for male and female applicants.
(7) Minimum pass standard for NAPFA or IPPT.

im interested in joining SCDF but im 16 1/2 years old , currently doing ‘N’ level’s but after my ‘N’ level’s NOT going to ITE to pursue NITEC for various reason , silver for NAPFA and thought of signing on but i do not have a clear view of the requirements of SCFD and sure of what i can do with this qulification.

You are still young. So now, what is most important is for you to complete your studies and get at least 5 GCE ‘O’ level credits, GCE ‘A’ level, ITC/CBS or Polytechnic Diploma. With regards to your query, I checked with our hotline 1800 382 0000. They mentioned that the next Job Fair for SCDF will be this month, March 2011. The exact dates have yet to be confirmed. An ad will be placed in the papers for the public.
If you have called us, mailed us and filled up our online application, than you have used our employment channels extensively. Do give the career hotline a call from time to time to check the status of your application. Other than that, keep your spirits high and hold on for the reply : )..

Thank you for expressing your interst in joing the Life Saving Force as a paramedic. Paramedic officers works shifts in 12 hours. For a better understanding of their jobscope, may I suggest that you visit our fire stations during Station Open House (Every Sats, 9-11am) and talk to a paramedic on duty and ask them to share their experiences as an SCDF paramedic
