Enthusiasts of music and the performing arts in the SCDF now have a practice studio of their own, with the formation of the Music and Performance Art Club (MPAC) based in the Basic Rescue Training Centre (BRTC) at Jalan Bahar.
Commissioner Peter Lim graced the opening of MPAC Studio on 8 Sep 2009. It was his vision that MPAC should gather the talented SCDF staff and offer opportunities for them to express themselves in various functions. The facility will serve to nurture talents and foster friendship among our full-time national servicemen (NSFs) and regulars.
The studio is equipped with different musical instruments, a mirrored wall and a dance floor within a sound-proof setting. The MPAC has also lined up a series of music or performing arts-related activities, workshops and courses, like the “NSF’s Got Talent” competition held on 19th Nov 2009 in BRTC.
The SCDF MPAC has performed in numerous Home Team and SCDF events and is considered to be one of the SCDF’s prides.

if were to be accepted by MPAC, is this a 8 to 5pm thing during NS or ? What is the requirement ?
Kenny, the MPAC is akin to an extra curricular activity. It is not a posting. SCDF regulars and NSFs are free to join. A range of training and performances usally falls outside your routine working hours.
